Learn the secrets of percussion with Antti Ohenoja!
Visiting the Hailuoto Music Festival now for the second time, percussion artist Antti Ohenoja wants to get familiar with percussionists and students in the Oulu region, and offer them a masterclass! It is a great opportunity to network and gain new perspectives and ideas and grow as a percussionst.
Antti Ohenoja
Antti Ohenoja was born in Raahe and moved to Oulu early on. From Oulu he moved to Canada, where he studied with the world-renowned percussion ensemble Nexus at the University of Toronto and graduated with the Bachelor of Music degree in percussion performance. He received his Master of Music degree from Sibelius Academy, where he studied with ao. Olli-Pekka Martikainen and Pasi Suomalainen. Antti has also studied marimba performance privately with Eric Sammut in Paris, In USA with Gordon Stout and in Stockholm with Anders Loguin. This past spring Antti won the principal percussion audition at the internationally acclaimed KBS Symphony Orchestra in Seoul, South Korea. In 2011 Antti won the 1st prize in the international snare drum competition in Italy. At the moment, Antti is working on his artistic doctoral degree at the University of the Arts Sibelius Academy, and performs regularly with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Dallapé jazz band, Avanti! and Malmö Symphony Orchestra in Sweden.

Class Details
- The class is held in English and Finnish.
- The class fee for students is 120 euros (incl. Finnish VAT 24%), which is paid during the registration. The fee is non-refundable, even if you had to cancel your participation!
- For observers, the fee is 50 euros (incl. Finnish VAT 24%), which is paid in advance in the same manner.
- The class consists of approximately 9 hours of contact time and one-hour final concert, where the students get a chance to perform.
- The students get performance coaching and learn ensemble-playing skills.
- Solo repertoire is also addressed on the course.
- Every participant must take care of their own transportation and accommodation themselves.
Class Schedule
The class is arranged at Hailuoto youth house (Luovontie 280, 90480 Hailuoto) and Hailuoto church (Luovontie 52, 90480 Hailuoto). Changes to the schedule might be due, so please add this page to your bookmarks!
